David Bonner - a profile.
A childhood love of sailing lead to David’s first job being at the sail loft of Baxter & Cicero in Newport Beach, California. His early training at the internationally renowned firm had him involved in the production of top quality sails for dinghies through ocean racers. An avid racer himself, David raced in every class boat sailed in Southern California and competed successfully in national and international events. After graduating from the University of California, David continued to pursue his passion for racing while building a career in corporate restaurant development and marketing.

At age 35, he took a break from the corporate world to fulfil a lifelong dream of sailing around the world. For the next 20 years, David worked with sail makers worldwide and competed in regattas at every opportunity. After logging 150,000 miles at sea, David set up business in Palma de Mallorca in 1997 and became associated with Neil Pryde sails.
Having worked independently for many years, David now appreciates the melding of his experience as a custom sail maker with the benefits he can offer his clients of volume pricing, quality control and technology that comes with his association with Neil Pryde.
With David’s background in both racing and cruising, he brings a unique perspective to optimising sail performance while maintaining the durability and ease of handling sought by cruisers.
